A Strathfield family looking for more space has paid $6.2m for a stunning Dural acreage – the highest price achieved in the semirural suburb this year.
The stunning homestead, located at the end of a topiary tree-lined driveway at 15 Vineys Rd, was listed on the market in March after undergoing a $1m renovation.
Set on a parklike 1.31ha estate, the property features a championship size tennis court, separate pavilion, solar heated swimming pool and massive shed.
There is an amazing alfresco area with outdoor kitchen fitted with pizza oven, commercial grade barbecue and wine fridge.
Agent Kate Lumby from Lumby Hampson Real Estate said the estate was inspected by around 35 groups with a number of out of area buyers looking to secure a high-end home in The Hills in excess of $6m. The purchasers, who have four children, wanted more space for their youngsters to run around and play.
“I think what has happened as an overall result of covid is that everyone has gotten a sense of what is more important in life and there is a focus on families,” Ms Lumby said.
“You can have two families living on acreage with open space and while we joke about these kind of lifestyle properties being ideal for isolation – really it is such a beautiful opportunity for people to have the size, space, security and potential capital growth in the future.”
According to CoreLogic RP Data, the sale is the highest price achieved in the suburb since August last year when 8 Wyoming Rd, a larger 2.31ha estate, fetched $6.6m.
The most expensive property in Dural is 19 Carters Rd which sold for $10.85m in March 2018. It remains a record for the Hills District.
Ms Lumby said the Viney Rd property’s position at the end of a cul-de-sac and its 12-car shed added to its appeal.
The main five bedroom single level residence is set around an internal courtyard with mosaic tiled swimming pool. Its modern interior includes timber floors and high-end finishes such as ceilings with shadow line lighting.
The estate also caters for extended families or a caretaker with a separate two bedroom home. The pristine property’s magnificent landscaped gardens include a vegetable patch and small orchard.
“It is absolutely stunning – all the gardens are mature and have been meticulously cared for,” Ms Lumby said.
“The property had undergone a $1m renovation about five years ago and they added the beautiful outdoor entertaining area with glass stacker doors and everything you could need – it even has built-in heaters. On the coldest day, with the heaters on, it is just blissfully warm, so it is a space that could be used all year-round.”
Another smaller lifestyle acreage located at 33 Carters Rd, Dural also sold this week for an undisclosed price. The 0.404ha property features a contemporary five bedroom homestead, landscaped gardens and saltwater swimming pool.
