A Kenthurst acreage with two dwellings fetched $685,000 above expectations when it sold online for $4.158m during a tense battle between two bidders.
The sale of 2.1ha estate at 58A Annangrove Rd took more than an hour to complete with 130 bids traded during the virtual sale.
It is the third most expensive property to sell in the semi-rural suburb this year and the highest price achieved at auction.
“It is an absolute top result and shows the demand for lifestyle acreages in The Hills,” said agent Will Hampson from Lumby Hampson Real Estate.
“The property ticked all the boxes – a quality arable estate with large barn and the bonus of additional dwelling which is suitable for extended families, a home office or additional income. The successful purchaser was certainly determined to not miss out.”
The custom designed single level five bedroom homestead features a games room plus a four-car garage. The self-contained cottage has three bedrooms kitchen, dining/lounge room and double garage. The estate also includes an inground solar heated swimming pool and magnificent mountain views.
There had been 20 registered bidders for the sale with a starting offer of $2 million. It quickly jumped in excess of $3m under auctioneer Kate Lumby. It soon became a battle between two main bidders who traded offers - at times in $1,000 increments – before selling for $4.158m. The property last sold in September 2004 for $1.033m.
Located in the heart of Kenthurst, the estate is less than a five minute drive to Round Corner Village and 12 minutes to Castle Towers and Castle Hill Metro Station. It is close to sought after schools including Hills Grammar and Marian College.
